Revival Weekends
We gathered together in Sheldon, Iowa over the weekend of February 19 - 21. The weekend was absolutely incredible and God moved in the hearts of so many people. I will give you the back story on how we were invited to Sheldon. This past Spring we went to Sibley Iowa for a Revival night at the Lantern coffeehouse and it was an amazing night. Many were left touched buy the Lord and set of fire to walk in the ways of God. Dale Boer was in attendance and heard the testimonies of all the young men coming to Jesus, walking away from sin and being filled with the Holy Spirit. The stories of young guys walking away from drinking, sex, pornography, cutting and much more amazed Dale. Dale began to follow our group of guys and gals and ended up reaching out to a pastor in Sheldon to see if he would be open for us to share in Sheldon. The Sheldon ministerial committee gave us a warm welcome and we began to plan the weekend. We had a pastor from Sheldon by the name of Kevin Gingerich who was a true blessing to work with. As we were preparing for the weekend Dale had a nudge to pray over Kevin. We prayed on the spot and Pastor Kevin was refreshed by the Holy Spirit. We knew it was going to be a great weekend as he was smiling from cheek to cheek. The weekend was bathed with so much prayer leading up to the event, at the event and during the gathering you could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit all weekend. We kicked off the weekend with a worship team from our local area. They brought in God’s presence all weekend as we began every session with worship. Thankful for this group of worshipers. Danielle Freitag shared a powerful prophetic message about the ministry of Action 169. Charles Karuku shared a fire filled message as he has been all across the nation alongside Sean Feucht and the Let us Worship movement. Sheldon was their 60th city since covid last spring and Charles brought a powerful message of racial reconciliation through the cross. The only way unity is possible in America. We saw the altars full after the message and the weekend was kicked off.
Saturday morning we opened with worship, testimonies and a dynamic message from Kade Krosschell. The testimonies of people coming to Christ and being born again were life-changing. Every born again believer has a story to share that impacts someone. In Revelation 12:11 the word says “They overcome him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death. That scripture is so true today as well as we defeat the work of the enemy by the blood of Jesus and the testimony of life change through the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Jesus saves and redeems people today as we preach the word and share our story as well. Kade preached on a believers identity and authority in Jesus Christ. His message brought us all back to the cross and our identify was strengthened through the message and the finished work of Jesus death and resurrection. In the afternoon we opened up with worship, testimonies and Joshua Dyskstra shared a timely message on the word of God and the Spirit of God. It was pretty amazing because afterwards our good friend Karen Boer who is 78 years old was ready to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Her husband Dale received it many years ago and after the word was preached she was ready to receive. She always hesitated but this day she knew it was time. Dale and Josh laid hands and prayed over her and she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and spoke in other tounges. God is so good and the promise from Jesus that he would send the Holy Spirit still stands true today as we have seen hundreds receive over the last few years. Saturday night was absolutely amazing as my wife Jenna shared a timely word as well as Tyler Miller and his story of deliverance from Homosexuality and the bondage of that lifestyle. God is so so good and Jesus still comes for the sinner and sets them free from a lifestyle of bondage. Taylan Seaman shared the most powerful message of his lifetime. Taylan grew up an atheist in California and is on fire for the Lord today. He has led countless to the Lord through his ministry both online and in person as well. Taylan hardly looked at a note and I believe he spoke out around 70 bible scriptures throughout his message. The message was powerful and the altars were full again Satruday night as we saw many people strengthened in faith and empowered as they left Saturday night.
Sunday we closed out with an amazing worship time. At the end of worship I could not hold back my tears. It was as if the presence of God had gripped us all. God moved through the weekend and was sending us out strong in Spirit. I gave a message on being a part of the body of Christ as 1 Corinthians 12 teaches. We each have a part to play in the body of Christ and we always are called to lead with love. Nick Anderson closed out and also couldn’t hold it together as he shared his message. I have never witnessed Nick tearing up but for the first minute he couldn’t get the words out as he was choked up by the stories and the move of God we experienced in Sheldon. My favorite quote from the weekend was from Pastor Kevin. Pastor Kevin came up Saturday night and read from Ezekiel 37. He was telling the story of the dry bones in ancient Israel. In the Story Ezekiel was asking if Israel could still live. As the story goes on the bones come together and God breathes His Spirit as the body comes back to life again. Pastor Kevin made the statement, I thought Revival was coming for Sheldon but Revival came for me. It was an absolutely amazing statement and exciting to see the Lord set him on fire once again. Another dynamic story I have to share from the weekend was about a couple who came together broken looking for hope. Ryan struggled in the past with drug addiction and Diana did as well. Ryan had been in and out of Jail and they were not able to step fully into that new identity in Christ. We prayed over Ryan this summer at an outdoor Revival and he gave up Marijuana and his drug addiction. He brought Diana with this past weekend and she said she had given her life to Jesus but never had felt God’s presence or power to overcome here struggles in life. After the event we spent about a hour as a team praying with this couple and walking through prayers of forgiveness and reconciliation. It was beautiful to see people coming to Jesus for complete healing and restoration. We prayed for God to heal and fill both of them with a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirt and he sure did. Diana woke up the next day singing gospel songs for the first time in her life. She broke up her cigarettes and walked away from her addictions. She had been smoking since the age of 13 and today is 36. The couple has also decided to get married and start live life together God’s way. They made plans for marriage and are getting married this April. We went back on Monday night and celebrated Diana’s 36th birthday together with friends in Sheldon. Diana said it was her first birthday celebration since she was 6 years old. It was absolutely an amazing weekend. And this is what Revival looks like. People turning from sin and being gripped with an awareness of God and his love for them. We believe the best days are yet to come for the church of Jesus Christ. These are the days we will get to witness the new testament church rise up again and change once more the way we live. Jesus says, I will build my church and the gates of hades will not overcome it. Matthew 16:18. The greatest days are upon us and God is looking for His people to turn from their ways and turn back to him and watch as Revival falls fresh on our land.
We are extremely thankful and want to say thank you to the pastors and people of Sheldon for allowing us to come minster. We also want to thank all those behind the scenes doing work but never getting recognition. We want to thank the countless prayer warriors who prayed and interceded countless hours for the weekend. Want to thank the worship team, the ones who gave testimonies and all the individuals who prepared and preached a message. Also thank you to the Crossroads Pavilion staff as they were outstanding to work with as well.
We have a heart to go to towns all across the Midwest in the months and years to come. We want to see gatherings in church’s, homes, barns, community centers or wherever the Lord leads. If it is on your heart to see God move and see Revival in your town or community please reach out. We believe through these rally’s God is reviving his church and building his kingdom for the days to come.
2 Chronicles 7:12-22 - Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man as ruler in Israel.’
“But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them, then I will uproot them from My land which I have given them; and this house which I have sanctified for My name I will cast out of My sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
“And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and this house?’ Then they will answer, ‘Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, and worshiped them and served them; therefore He has brought all this calamity on them.’ ”
The Great Commission
Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” - Mark 16:14-18
