First Full Year w/Fellowship of Christian Athletes -
Last year we started as a family walking the journey with FCA. The Lord really laid the next generation on my heart and reaching them with the good news of Jesus Christ. Revival in this nation is dependent on this next generation catching the fire and coming alive through the message of the cross, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. When someone young or old comes to the end of themselves and turns from their own ways and turns to Jesus the Holy Spirit draws that individual into a whole new life. It is an amazing thing. That has happened for many people, young, old and in every generation. We are witnessing and in need of the greatest move of God in our nations history to see things set back on the right course. The only hope for this nation is Revival. In order for Revival many will have to come to Jesus in the days to come. One thing we do know is no man or woman comes out of the womb “born a Christian.” Jesus says in John 3, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. When we see people turn to Christ and accept forgiveness we see them walk into total life change and transformation. God takes the greatest sinners and turns them into the greatest saints all throughout history through the resurrection power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the King of Kings and has the power to transform a man when he submits the the Lordship of Jesus Christ and is filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Our heart is to see the next generation lit on fire for Jesus. We are in need of a generation of young people looking to impact the world for Jesus Christ.
This first year has been a great foundational year of making connections with coaches, athletes and schools. I was telling my wife yesterday how grateful I am to live in NW Iowa and how great the people are here. People love the Lord and they love people. The first 2 things Jesus told his disciples to do. Love God and love people. NW Iowa is a great area to live and raise a family. About 2 weeks ago we brought former NFL legend Mike & Kim Singletary to NW Iowa and they spoke 2 nights, both in Cherokee and Sioux Center. As they came into Sioux Center that Sunday night they prayed and the Lord redirected their message a different route. They noticed when they came into town how special of an area Sioux County was. They talked about protecting the values that are here and not becoming inward focused but projecting that light we carry out into the nation and world we live in. Mike shared about standing up for truth and speaking up when you see lies being taught that are not truth. True Christianity is standing up for the truth even in the midst of possible persecution. This year we have been able to make many connections in schools and we are starting to establish relationship’s with coaches, teachers and athlete’s inside the schools. We have new huddles(bible studies) launched in George Little Rock, Western Christian, Hull Christian, Dordt College and another new one launching at Sibley soon Lord willing. FCA also has existing huddles at Northwestern College, Sioux Center, Rock Valley, West Sioux, and MOC. We are excited for the overall growth as the bible studies begin to grow and we continue with yearly outreach events like fields of faith, coaches date nights, and our annual banquet. We are also excited to bring a group of both athletes and coaches with to FCA Camp this summer in Pella at Central college. We are excited to continue to serve the Lord and serve NW Iowa this coming year and beyond. We ask for prayer for the school systems, teachers, coaches and athletes and your blessing over those people and the ministry of FCA. If the mission of FCA moves your heart we ask you to consider partnering with us in this mission. To continue the ministry we are asking for partners, supporters and people to come alongside us through the ministry of giving! There is a blessing on those who fund the advancement of God’s kingdom and pray that blessing over you , your family and life. Thank you and Blessings! - Michael De Jong
