Consistency, Tracking, & Accountability...The 3 Keys to Change
Life is interesting as we get older. Many times when we fall and become broken we become open to change in life. In every area of major breakthrough in my life, failure came first. I fell first and then became open to change in life. Its amazing how a surrendered heart can change, but a hard heart cannot.
First major surrender in life when I gave in and surrendered my faith to Jesus. I surrendered to His authority and begin to pray, read and study the word. Life changed as I stayed consistent, plugged into a faith community and walked that path.
Second major surrender. 2008 business was slow and we had a part time business opportunity that we began to build on the side. We were failing in our financial life and had more month than money. We plugged into a debt-buster system and a budget for our finances. We stayed consistent building our business and tracking our budget and things have changed dramatically 8 years later. But it started with an open mind, a written plan, tracking and a financial class that impacted us dramatically. Our life changed.
Surrender point number three. As we began to have kids I gained 10 pounds of unwanted body weight over a period of 5 years. A few months back I began to track my food intake, monitor my supplementation and make my way to workout 3 times per week. As a Result lost the 10 pounds, energy is up and feeling great. Its amazing how tracking the progress and finding community in the areas you need help changes it all.
So many times in life I think I have it all figured out and then I fall. At that point I become open to change. This is a good thing. I have learned to love change!
The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked. - Proverbs 24:16
Community changes everything! Every time we have plugged into a group of people moving in the direction we wanted to go good things began to happen. There is something about being transparent, saying hey this is where we are at and we could sure use some help.
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. - Hebrews 10:24-25
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up. Ecclesiastics 4:9
I have learned be okay with brokenness, open to opportunity and then make the changes necessary to make course corrections. From there stay consistent, track results and remain accountable to the plan in place.
